I am having similar issues as well. Here is my system information. I am using the REDCINE-X_build_54_win version on Windows XP, service pack 3, E8400 GHz processor, 3GB of Ram showing (4 GB are installed). My video card is NVidia GeForce 9600 GT with 1GB of memory on board.

When I open Redcine X everything is fine until I scroll over any r3d file. After the mouse hovers over any r3d file the footage plays for maybe 2 seconds max, then the footage either freezes or goes black. I can still load the file to the time line and export but it is also black as well. Has any one else experienced this? If so have you found what the solution is?

Hey All, I am going to take home a PC that is very similar to the setup you have and run some tests to try and help out. For the most part we only use Apple computers, and have not run into the problems you are facing, but non the less, for the group, I'll try on my end to see what I can figure out.

    cheers

    Hi Cedrick,
I just installed RedCineX build 54 on my MacBook Pro (2.5GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB VRAM, Mac OS 10.6.2), downloaded 2 different R3D files, and I get the same results you're getting. When I hover over an R3D file in the bin it will play for a second or two, and then go black.

This is my first time using RedCineX, so I'm probably making some basic mistake, etc. Anyone have a solution for this? Much appreciated,

    Matt Martin

Does it work with any of the other RED tools?

Can you view it in Premiere, Vegas or any other editor?

More useful information would help, but ultimately you should try contacting RED directly with your specific issue.

If you look at post #11 at the top of page #2 of this thread you will see all of the details I am able to give for the problem. It is not an issue with any third party program just RedCineX. But I will send a message to the red support team. The only reason I have not as of yet is to get feedback from other forum members that may be experiencing the same issue.

    Thanks.
