I hope someone can help me out here.

I bought the Aja Kona 3 card and installed it in my PCI 3rd slot. When i try to play back a sequence from FCP3, I get a blown out oversaturated image playing through my HP dreamcolor monitor. I dont know if its a setting issue. So if any one uses the same config. Please let me know how you set it up.

Also, when i try playing back with AJA TV, I get the same issue and the image becomes oversized for the screen.

I know a lot of people are using this Kona 3 card with Dreamcolor. I guess I am not setting something well here. When i connect the same Dreamcolor to my REDROCKET, it plays well with no issue.

I am running MAC Pro, 2 Quad Core, 16GB Ram, RedRocket, Display is HP Dreamcolor and ACD 24" Display.

How is the DreamColor hooked up to your Kona 3 card? If you want it to display the REC709 colorspace, you have to be feeding it 10 bit video through HDMI or DVI, so you should be using the AJA converter inbetween.

The oversaturated image suggests that it's not using the correct colorspace.

Yeah, you're probably feeding the DreamColor a PsF signal rather than true progressive and/or feeding it a YUV signal rather than RGB. Doing either of these will disable its color space emulation features, throwing the panel into its native color space. Mapping images designed for a smaller color space onto the panel's extremely large native space will result in them looking seriously over-saturated.

I don't off the top of my head remember every format the Kona 3 outputs (we mostly use Blackmagic cards), but you'll probably need some sort of converter that can deal with these issues for you, like the AJA Hi5-3G. (Which we're planning to use to drive a DreamColor from a Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme... though our DreamColor hasn't shown up yet so I can't personally confirm that this works.)

Thanks guys, I figured it out. It was my settings in the AJA Kona 3 control panel. I did not select the dual link button in the digital video output in the Kona 3 control panel. I am using it with the Hi5-3G converter.

I believe the Kona 3 outputs YUV 10b, but it gets converted by the Aja Hi5-3G to RGB for Dreamcolor to see it. Someone clarify this for me if I'm wrong.
