i think it's a very important function for 3D productions too.
In fact someone could choose Scarlet for its DOF .

One of the primary reasons I am going with the scarlet is vfx work fir this reason. The higher resolution and datarates and the ton of other aspects if the epic will be amazing for vfx, however the depth of field is a winning element for me. Will also use Epic but don't need to buy one a year. Have to prioritise.

Red have decided to go pro with all their gear and do agree that people will be buying and using this kit for reasons like we have illustrated, as well as the epic.

No. Nothing has changed unfortunately. We will just have to wait for the release and see what RED have planned for each line.

If this feature is implemented, I think it should be done like the RED ONE, it should not be in the release, just release as is, and add the feature later in an update or something...if that makes sense :)

I'm itching for NAB to come around so we can stop speculating. Frame Overlay would be a fantastic addition to the Scarlet.

If they have it implemented for the EPIC it won't be too hard to transfer that down, as long as the hardware is there to handle it. I'm with Tim in the wait and see method. Maybe at the very least we'll be able to play with that feature on Epics, or even better, go ahead and look at it on a Scarlet ;)

If nothing else, it would be nice to be able to store a frame on your CF or SSD and be able to pull it up, that way you can at least flip back and forth between that and a live view... even if we can get that kind of little cheat it would be helpful. But I'd like the real deal if possible.
