I have a question for the Red Team.

I am very clear on stages 1-4, but there seems to be a small void of information regarding a seemingly grey area. I will call this a possible Stage 3.5.

If you have purchased a Red One after Oct 30th, 2009, and you plan to trade this Red One body in for $17,500 off of an Epic S35 in August or September, would you get priority in line over someone that did not already own a Red camera in terms of delivery?

    On the trade in ...

-I am fully aware that no free accessories would be included.
-I am also aware that it would not be an Epic-X.
-I understand that Stage 1-3 cameras would be delivered with greater priority.

My question is ... as a post 10/30/09 Red One owner, would one then be in the head of the line for the Epic S35s? Would this group of owners represent the proverbial Stage 3.5?

Since many Epic accessories are coming out before the body (Bomb EVF in Jan/Feb, etc), this purchase could make a lot of sense to a lot of people. It would allow more shooters to start learning the unique Red work flow.

Additionally, It could also make sense in terms of generating working capital for Red.

    Hope this question makes sense.

Let me know when you can.

    Thanks.

I have been wondering this myself as a prospective Epic buyer.

I would like to clarify as well that the owner of a RED One post October 30th is still guaranteed full trade in value.

I have just recently come to understand the value of the RED system and also to the point where I can invest in it. As a professional working in the film industry I see this investment as not only being important to me but to my clients as well and that means having the best equipment available. I am concerned that when the Epic becomes available to those who did not purchase a RED One before October 30th that there may not be enough cameras to meet the demand potentially a situation where it becomes difficult to work with clients who expect to have the latest gear and equipment on their shoots.

So, as someone who respects the innovation and philosophy of RED and who wants to be a part of it, what do you suggest as the best way to proceed?

I am not having much luck with this delivery order question, Theodore.

From all that I have read ... I am almost 100% sure that you are guaranteed full trade in value toward an Epic camera.

    Hope this helps.
