From what I have learned, the red one has a true iso of 320.

I was wondering if something like this could also be true of the color temperature. I have heard a lot of people mention that it doesn't perform as well under tungsten lighting compared to daylight. I want to know if that is because it is truly balanced for daylight.

If that is the case, then would using an 80a filter, or whatever is appropriate on the lens, result in better results then just changing the color temp in the camera?

Cam, native color temp for RED is around 5000K. The camera performs very well under tungsten if you light it accordingly, and yes a correction filter for bringing it back closer to 5000K will help the blue channel. New color science seems to have improved things a bit in this category. I have had some very nice results with tungsten, but have seen others struggle with it. Sometimes just comes down to testing and knowing what reaction the sensor will have under a variety of conditions.

The common wisdom is to use an 80D filter with a RED One.

I generally look at the histogram, and select my filter strength appropriately. 80D will balance things quite evenly under tungsten, and often I want a warm tone when I've lit with tungsten (because I see it that way) so I'll go lighter.

Its as much a creative as a technical decision.
