So a few weeks back, my dad had won a free TV (32" Toshiba 720p) and I just got around to setting it up today. I connected a blu-ray player to it to see how it'd look on it and my dad comes along and asks me, "what are you doing?"

I respond, "Testing out the blu-ray player on this. I just want to see how HD looks on this tv" (For everyone's curiosity, it looks like crap, but hey, it's a free tv)...

Then he goes on looking at the TVand starts talking again, "So what's next? Yellow-ray? Red Ray?"

Then at that moment, I started to chuckle inside of me...haha

On a location a curious bystander asked me what was the camera I was shooting with. I told him it was RED. "But it's Black..." said he, looking at me like Duh..huh..

I was talking to my dad about getting together funds for the RED Scarlet , and my mum chimed in to say that 'for a camera that was black, it seemed silly to not only name it a colour, but a specific shade of that colour.'

I asked her what she would call the camera, to which her reply was:
    'A damn expensive hobby'

My mother once referred to the Red in Welsh as the 'cochyn', which literally means 'a red one' but is also a slang term for someone with ginger hair. There's also a famous rugby team in Wales called 'The Scarlets' whose fan club is, believe it or not, called Clwb Cochyn - i.e. 'The Red One Club'.

Their mascot is a large red dragon called 'cochyn' (if you look closely you'll see the kids have the word 'Scarlets' written on their foreheads:

I wonder if Jim is secretly a fan of Welsh rugby?

Cool! Why sell only Red T-shirts. Try forehead Red Stamps too.

A little story from southern Europe.
Once I was shooting a commercial in Lisbon and the DoP came up, cover with gaffer tape the word RED on the camera body and write GREEN instead.
I ask "Why are you doing this?"
He answer me: "Red sucks! I can't shoot with it."
Afterwards I understand, Red is the colour of Benfica and he was a Sporting fan, the other Lisbon's football team.
