I picked one up at the party at sundace. I just watched it and wanted to tell you that I really enjoyed it. I thought it was very informative and very well put together. One of the most enjoyable documentarys I have watched in awhile. I like the use of the graphical elements and the music was spot on. Also shot very well good job Jareed. Anyway everyone should check it out. It is worth the time to watch it.

Its a really good movie you guys need to order it. Very interesting and I found it very un political. That is what I liked about it. It was fact and let you decide who where the bad guys. Oh and Jarred was a cam op on it.. Good work good work

Isn't that the way a "good" documentary should be: give you the facts without an editorial and let you make up your own mind?

RocketIndie looks like an interesting concept that is definitely worth further investigation.

To me, I prefer a documentary that assumes its subjectivity rather that one that try to look objective. (Note: I'm not talking about the one mentioned in this thread because I have yet to see it).

The very fact that there's editing, that there's a choice of what is going to be shot in the first place, who's going to be interviewed, etc..., *is* an editorial and therefore is not objective. To me at least.

It would require that it came with a complete encyclopedia of what the context is, who the people are, etc.. to be objective, so you get the big picture, and THEN you can really begin to make your mind about the documentary's subject in a not-biased-by-the-documentary-point-of-view way.

Just for example, I watched Loose Changes about the 9/11 "conspiracy". In it, the narrator kept saying something like "You make your own mind", or "you decide what's real or not". Now, I'm not saying that I believe or not in those conspiracies, that's not the point, but what I'm trying to say is me, as a spectator, know nothing about building engineering, so I cannot "make my own mind" on wether or not the WTC could have collapsed the way it has. See what I mean? (of course, you could argue that *you* are an architect, or whatever, but... ah come on, show some good faith... :) )

I'm not saying that you can't make your mind about what a documentary is all about, just that, to me, a documentary, by itself, cannot pretend to be objective.

Anyway, I do not pretend to be right about this, it is just my opinion...
