I´m wondering if you can import material shot with build 21 in Premiere? I´d like to upgrade my camera to build 21 but I need to edit material with Premiere CS4. This would be good to know before upgrading the camera :)

So am I safe if I shoot with build 21 but NOT use the 4,5K nor the new color science

    Thanks in advance

Yes you can import it no problems (haven't tried 4.5K though). Just bear in mind that the footage will be processed with the old colour science until Adobe see fit to release a build 20+ compatible plugin....

    imho -
    * build 21 itself is not a show stopper, common modes like 4K 16.9 should work just fine.
    * 4.5K may be a problem (I guess it really may fail to open in CS4 because of an importer dll) and so it is strongly recommended to check out in advance.
    * color science and even FLUT color science - forget about it. You will have to live with older algorithms for debayer, incl. more noise in higher ISO, less saturated colors and so on

    I am using CS4 with Build 21.

But all my projects are either 4K or 2K at 2:1 or 16:9
    These import fine.

So, no idea if 4.5K willl import or not.

4.5K footage is above Premiere Pro CS4's maximum resolution of 4096x4096 pixels, and won't open.

The experimental Adobe Mercury Engine that we've been cooking in the labs has a maximum sequence size of 10240x8192 pixels - more than enough for 4.5k, 5k, and beyond.

CS5 will support 4.5K and the new color science. In fact, if you import a CS4 RED project into CS5, color science will be recognized without any more effort..

That's great and all, really looking forward to it, but when will CS5 even be available?

Sorry if that has been asked before: but will there be an adobe plugin available that accepts new color science?

COLOR SCIENCE IS A PLUGIN FROM RED NOT ADOBE. Adobe supports the R3D codec red adds the plug in. Red says FLUT is still in beta so we have to wait, fair enough. I am glad to see there are actually Adobe reps here on this workflow forum. Welcome we really appreciate it. Questions?
Will there be XML export in CS5.?
will the native CC plugins be 32 bit?
will there be some masking capabilities?
from what I hear the max resolutions will double, I imagine it will be stable enough for long form edits. (honestly i just CC'ed a 2 hour feature on ppro/AE cs4 4.02 not a single crash, and sound was actually in sync. I edited in FCP).
Have the sound issues been fixed?
