    Hi everybody!
Next week I'm starting to shoot a independent long feature. I'm the director and editor. I work very well with FC workflow (L&T, edit in FC, clipfinder to reconform, send to color, send back to FC to print master).
    BUT... I know FCS3 doesn't support build 21...

So, how can I manage build 21 footages, shooted in 4.5k and 2,40:1?? Mantaining the same (or similar) workflow?

    Thanks to everybody!!!

we have a video up that may be of help......here's the description:

"4.5K Wide Screen recording (4480 × 1920 pixels) mode is not yet supported in Final Cut Pro and Color, in order to work with it you have to transcode to another codec. This workflow explains how to: transcode the R3D files to 720p prores LT with Clipfinder 2.2, editing in FCP, importing the FCP XML into Clipfinder 2.2, transcode only the R3D files used for the editing to 2K Wide screen prores 4444, import Clipfinder XML into FCP, send to Color. This kind of workflow takes advantage of the new color science. It works also for other Red recording modes."

    and here's the link:

but you are finishing with Prores right?
does color get back to the r3ds?

i would have taken the same route, but instead of exporting prores i would do DPX and then EDL Conform this with COLOR, if i would use COLOR.

Color 1.5 will not handle 4.5K R3D input. It has a max resolution of 4K. :( The DPX route is better quality than ProRes but it really depends on the project.
