In what could be some very good news for RED and REDusers interested in higher frame rates. It seems Intel is going into production with a 45nm chip that employs a new insulator that will significantly improve the thermal characteristics of its microprocessors.

"Intel, the world’s largest chip maker, has overhauled the basic building block of the information age, paving the way for a new generation of faster and more energy-efficient processors..."

Employing this new tech from Intel or similar technology coming from IBM/AMD; could we soon see a "Mysterium II" (it is CMOS after all) capable of pumping out 4K Redcode RAW at 60 or 120fps?

    3 cheers for modularity:)

RED One should already do uncompressed REDCODE RAW out of the RAW port at 60fps 4K and 120fps 2K. But if it could do that out to something like the RED DRIVE that would be insane... Perhaps a "Mysterium II" or whatever the next generation will be able to pull off 4K @ 240fps. I would pee myself if that were available now. ...I like the slow-mo. :D

Anyway, bring on the 45nm lithography process! I'm ready for unified quad-core CPUs and 8-core CPUs next year. Wooohoo!
