I need to export TIFF 16 bit for a CG company in RedAlert. I read in the forum not to change settings of the r3d files in RedAlert but to reset them. I find this confusing. When I open the files in RedAlert, all settings are at default except for Exposure and Tint. I get like a decimal number for Exposure, 4003.554, and a higher setting for Tint, usually around 5 something. My question is:

Should I leave the Exposure setting that the file opens to?
Also, do I reset the Tint setting to 0?

I am exporting TIFF files to these settings:

    Full
    CameraRBG
    Linear Light

The files are 54 Mb (4K at 16:9) and extremely dark. I am assuming all the information is in that murky darkness...

Any help would be appreciated. Its kind of an emergency.

I don't know if my post is unclear, but I'm basically trying to understand the best way to export TIFF sequence for a CG company. This is all before the DI. I am trying to understand the difference between what information is in the actual image and is on the metadata.

If I open the original r3d the only setting not on default seems to be the Tint setting. Should I reset this to 0 before exporting? This is using the latest version of RedAlert.

Also, is exporting TIFF at full, cameraRGB, and Linear Light a lossless export of the r3d file?

Thanks again for any information that might clear this up for me.

You should send one to the CG company and ask the what they want, as well as whomever is doing the final conform since it will need to be color corrected in context of the entire film.

Thanks Michael. Graeme took the time to help me out with this problem. But don't worry, there's more on the way...
