    Simply Awesome.

Any details on the REDALERT or REDCINE settings used?

You must be very proud! Congratulations, enjoy!
your right man.. its come full circle. Jim has finally been able to do what he's always dreamt of doing. Him, and as of friday about 25 others of course.

So this is what the real world looks like through a Red lensed Red One? Wow!!
    These are absolutly amazing grabs!!

Thank you so much for sharing them with us Jim. This whole weekend has been one hell of a ride; I will remember this weekend for a long time to come and so will the world.

I am only dissapointed I can't make IBC to meet the team and see the camera in the flesh, but, hopefully, by January 2008 I will have my own Red One and Red Primes, that's not too far off. And of course who knows what's to come; as you say Jim, "everything's subject to change!"

Ummmm! maybe I should add the Red Zoom after seeing how well it performed in your shots? Can't wait to find out details about the Red Prime Set!

    David.

Wait, does anybody have the original SLR "this is what 4K could look like" pictures from RED's website so long ago? Because a year and a half later... that's what it *does* look like. :)

I used RED Alert! because REDCINE is being re-built. I opened the files in RED Alert!, checked the WB, opened the histogram, adjusted exposure (not much needed), set DRX setting, viewed in REC 709, made Quicktimes, then selected a suitable frame and output a 4K DPX file that I opened in Photoshop.

I can drag the QT wrapped files into FCP2, edit and output. I can also open the QT wrapped files in QT Player and watch them... then output to a QT movie. I have a lot to do on the plane trip back to CA.

While I'm in Indy playing with a camera, Jarred is stuck doing Customer Service duty for the 1st 25 customers. Please don't ask him for footage because he is going to get pissy that I'm having fun while he has to work. :-) We flipped a coin... he lost.

    Aloha Jim, great stuff,

    - What is the highest shutter speed you shot with?
    - How long are your average takes?
    - What persentage of the footage is sharp - without motion blur (not focus) due to the speed? Having shot quite a bit of racing I know it can be a challenge.
    - Has RED made it any easier?
    - Any artifacts from the rolling shutter?

I like your style - Work Hard - then Play Hard.

I bet when it's "Miller Time" ... you feel pretty good.

    Thanks for everything.

    1/500th sec, although I shot some at 1/250th, 1/125th, and 1/48th sec.
    - How long are your average takes?
Short. Drag racing goes pretty quickly. I do have some longer takes in the pits. Maybe 1 minute.

All of my shots are perfectly sharp with just the right amount of motion blur... kidding. It is a challenge. But I have done this before. This camera, or any full frame S35 camera, is a pro tool. Anyone stepping up from an HVX will have a lot to learn.
    - Has RED made it any easier?
No. Just better results when you get it right.
    - Any artifacts from the rolling shutter?
    No.

    Corona and Cohiba Time.

    Thanks for everything.

    Aloha,

For some reason, that is a priceless quote for me. Jarred MUST be having some sort of fun sitting around the office....
