If I were just interested in Nikon mount, other brand looks better, but your A-mout concept help production to provide easy switch over among different mounts, so please do the best for making better G-adaptor!! Looking forward to it.

A-Star, is the universal mount the one that you currently sell for the RED One? If so, does that mean that I can buy the system now and, when the EPIC mount base becomes available, just buy that part in order to use on the EPIC? Thanks

    There are more photos:

Allstar universal mount(item code: AM-un) can`t work on RED ONE, but Allstar mount for RED(item code: AM-r) could be mounted on all type of mount base by an adapter ring. The thickness of AM-un is much thicker than AM-r, also Allstar universal mount and mount base are made of thick stainless, not like most of F3 adapters in the market are made of aluminum.

About Epic mount base, there is no EPIC in my country yet, and I don't know when my EPIC will be available. I`ve tried to ask RED team but unfortunately, they can`t give me the dimension about it. So, I would like to ask you for a favor , is it possible to send me an EPIC PL mount Module? I will need 3-4 day to test and measure, and 4-6 day for shipping back. Then you will get a free A-mount for EPIC.

OMG.... thanks you Allstar for getting this F3 mount done quickly. These cameras have become popular suddenly with very few lens mount options available for some reason.

Just saw his post this morning and sent my order in.

If you have not yet seen Allstars products yet, you will be very happy, works like a champ... and built like a tank, and VERY reasonably priced.

This is a bit confusing for me. F3 already has a quick change mount system. Why do you need another quick change mount on top of the original quick change mount?
RedOne is a different story- it doesn't have a quick change mount system so Allstar makes sense for RedOne.

I can answer this one for our situation anyway.

First, the F3 mount adapters for anything but PL (which comes with camera), are few and far between. I have had this camera for 2 months and CANNOT get a nikon adapter. Im sure many different lens adapters will eventually be produced but right now only a Nikon from MTF is being made and they are in very short supply for some reason.

More importantly.... just about all Nikon adapters I have ever used... suck! Its because the Nikon mount system was never designed for cinema usage and they all wobble etc. The A-mount system turns the mount into a solid and secure PL style QR system that works like a champ!

Once you go A-star and have the lens adapters (we have on the Red-one), its a no-brainer to continue and put the adapter system on the next camera body and have the same capability. We use the old style Nikons, the new Ziess ZF's and the Lieca R lenses with Red-one and now (hopefully soon) for the F3.

Maybe Allstar will make a Canon eos mount with an aperature built in... please?

    Erich,
I guarantee there will be many adapters for this camera very soon. From engineering stand point this is redundant and completely unnecessary- that's all.
That's not to take away from the original (Allstar) idea for RedOne- I thought that was the right way to do it (for RedOne).
For end users that change mounts on location frequently that is....
Yes it makes a little more sense if you already have the system- but what if both your cameras will rent at the same time?
BTW let me know if you want to sell the original (F3) PL adapter- I could definitely use it....
And Allstar- to be clear- I think you did great job on the RedOne system. But not every system is suitable for every camera.
IMO A- mount is not suitable for F3. It does not make it any worse- just unsuitable for this camera.
    With all due respect......

hi, thanks for your notice on my product. But you didn't get the point. Allstar A-Mount system is not only a quick-change mount.
I don't have extra original F3 PL adapter to sale, but I can sell you A-mount.
    Cheers

hi Erich, You got the point! The mount of the still camera lenses is really not appropriate for cine camera. Besides the shortcoming of design, the material is very soft, including original Nikon and Canon lenses. It will wear under normally use, just like the F mount in this photo.

Tighter and frequency lock and release will accelerate wear. A-mount's design avoid to use the original mount of the camera, so you have to put each adapter on each camera. it is a stupid design, but it works. And because of these adapters, it can protect your back lenses, and it let different cameras have same back focus length, same mount and same rear cap. It can also let your lenses and mount attached firmly and without play. You can also change the direction of the lenses, like use PL mount lenses. This design is from a cinematographer's viewpoint, not from an engineer.
I am not sure if I will make EF adapter. I am afraid that people will put cheap lens adapters on Allstar EF adapter. Because none of those cheap adapters are made of stainless steel, they will bring play and wrong back focus length. Then it will lost the meaning using A-mount.
