Hey Guys
A friend and i are having an argument about the lens on the Scarlet 2/3".
Is the lens a fixed lens like you would find on the P2 or EX1 or can you use 32mm, 50mm lens on it?
Sorry if this is a sumb thing to ask but the fighting has to stop.

Hi David, there are two 2/3" Scarlets. One has a fixed lens 8x zoom lens so it is similar to the HVX200, EX1, etc. in that sense. There is also the Cinema 2/3" Scarlet with can take interchangeable lenses. The miniRED primes ($950/lens) will be a fantastic option.
The Scarlet on the right is the fixed lens one.

Hi
Trying to get a better idea of how much to spend. I have a set of 6 nikon lens right now that I shoot with a brevis adaptor.
Looking at s16mm zoom lens for the 2/3 scarlet for the short term then adding primes as needed. Is the red mount proprietary? Or is there a list of lens, not only red mini lens but other brands for the 2/3 scarlet that would work.
I'd like to have the versatility of the non fixed but depends on the lens of the fixed.
If someone could point me in the right direction.
Many thanks
The Scarlet cinema has interchangeable lens mounts just like the Epic. Announced mounts that will fit it are standard PL mount, C-mount, B4HD, Canon, Nikon, and Red Mini-PL.
I have several used C-mount and Arri mount lenses, mostly different zooms I intend to try on a Scarlet Cinema. The ARRI mount lenses will be converted to PL mount.
Some used 16mm zooms to consider:
Cooke 9-50mm
Canon 7-57, 8-64, and 6.6-66 S16mm zooms
Zeiss 10-100, 11-110, 10-120 zooms
Angenieux 9.5-57, 12-120, 15-150, 12-240 older 16mm zooms
Angenieux 10-120, 11.5-138, and 7-81mm newer S16 zooms
The better used C-mount primes have gotten ridiculously expensive due to Lumix M4/3 shooters collecting them. The Red mini-primes will be an excellent buy. You can see some Lumix stills shot with older 16mm primes at www.oldlens.com near the bottom of the page. Some of these lenses vignette badly on a 4/3 sensor but won't on a 2/3 sensor.
Here is a link to a music video shot by Kip Kubin with a Red 1 at 2k and a Cooke 9-50mm http://www.vimeo.com/6800012
Hi
Thanks David for all the info. Very nice list. This is a big help Sir.
About the Arri mount is it possible to covert the Arri with an adaptor ring to PL or do these lens need to be fabricated. I'm assuming you want your set of lens with PL mounts,if all possible for workflow.
The music video looks great. Good song as well. I really like the images with that Cooke zoom lens and the R1, put out. Very sharp. Looking forward to some footage from Scarlet.
