I normally leave a camera powered up between shots anyway. Last industrial doc shoot I was on the camera was on for six hours straight. 10 to 15 seconds is not a problem. If it gets us our cameras faster go for it. Is there an option for a hot standby mode?

Turn camera on, then frame your shot...now your ready to roll. I can live with that.

Jim, thanks for the news. Is it time enough for the engineers to put in a sleep/suspend mode? Basically something that would go down to only using a tiny trickle of power but could revive in a split second? Then we could make a remote trigger that both revives and starts recording.

I must be the only one fine with the RED One startup time. Anything under that is awesome.

Do you know yet how long, after hitting the power, it will take to have an image to work with?

I think as a movie camera 10s startup is fine, but for a stills camera many would use an alternative.

Yeah, read between the lines and it looks like they must have a working ASIC in order to determine the 10 second start up time!

A "sleep" mode was announced on Nov. 30th. If that is still in the spec, 10 seconds start up is no big deal.

This ought to re-invigorate the people saying there needs to be a "stills only" brain.

That said for motion I think that's more than acceptable.
