    An old mantra I like is "Aim for the stars, you probably will never reach them, but you'll never be stuck in the mud".

    RED's concept specs are traditionally optimistic for a reason. Fuck conservatism.
    The beginner's mind is most open to discovery.

    Just turn her on at least 30 seconds before you actually need it. 10 seconds is fine.

    My only real bummer with the R1 start up time is the great shot I have of the grizzly going away. The camera was booting when he charged me. 10 sec would have probably gotten the shot, though if I hadn't been staring into the EVF and cursing the Red logo obscuring my vision, I might have had the sense to run away.

    Spoken like a true videographer. This is why there has often been such a high loss ratio among combat cameramen.
    One camera is a shoot... two or more is a production.

    This is pretty easy stuff. We posted the change so that if this was really a major problem for you... you could look at other options.
