Just joined the forum; does anyone know for sure if Scarlet will be compatible with Sony Vegas Pro 9 software and if so what other system requirements are needed? As I wait release of the camera, I'd like to see if my existing software will work with it? Would there need to be some additional computer hard drive or other system requirements as well? Thanks for any insight available, and the more detail the better as my learning curve could use it.

    I love RED.

Vegas Pro 9 has stellar R3D support, though the latest innovations (i.e. REDGamma/REDColor/FLUT) are still missing.

I am sure when it releases, Vegas 9 or, rather, Vegas 10 will support Scarlet just fine. You may have to wait a while for an update, but it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, we always have REDCine-X to convert the footage to a usable format.

While I am and FCP user and not Vegas, I relate to your desire to get ahead of the curve. What I have done is downloaded the free REDCine-X software along with some miscellaneous R3D files that you can find by wandering around the REDuser site. That allows me the chance to play with the workflow and get familiar with how things work. Obviously, this is all RED footage (not Scarlet) but there shouldn't be a difference.

    Good luck.

Appreciate everyones feedback -- any idea how large a hard drive or associated issues relating to the file sizes of this system?
