  1. #1 Panasonic Handheld HD recorder...dailes?
Saw this on the Panasonic website:
    http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp...0&displayTab=O

could this potentially be used for not only playback on set, but also (and more importantly) editing dailies?

It says "Time and date and TC/UB can be inserted into the recorded signal"
does that mean the and edl could possibly be made for an on-line down the road? i'm not much of an editor, but if it could actually record 720p from our BNC signal, spit out instant dailies that could later be reconnected into an online, wouldn't this be a VERY valuable tool on set- since clients seem never to have the time or patience for lengthy down conversions?

Any feedback regarding the camera TC output via bnc would be helpful.

    thanks,
    Doug

*********Please note that it only records 720/60p if the red is connected. 720/24p is only enabled with proprietary Panasonic cameras********

The current bnc output of the live recordng is constraned to 50 or 59.94. So any recorder would need to be able to interpert that signal based on input values like "23.98" in order to record the feed from the vid out and use it for offline edit. Lucky for us Qtake already does this.
    cheers

Sounds interesting. A few thing I could see as a problem are what format does it capture to? In my experiences different editors offline in different formats. Right now I'm on a show that wants 1K and the last one needed 1080p Apple prores. The last thing you want is to have to re encode after you bought such a nice little piece of kit.
