  1. #1 Video Assist RED to Laptop 
    Looking for a way to add laptop to part of video village to to take still images of what camera is seeing for continuity, lighting, clients, etc.

    What cables do we need to run from the red to a laptop with HDMI Output, VGA, FireWire.

    And are there any free or inexpensive programs to just take a still image on the laptop?

    You could use a Matrox MXO2 on a laptop with an HD-SDI or HDMI coming from the camera to grab full frame stills when necessary from whatever video software you'd have installed on your system. I don't believe there are any VGA or Firewire options that do what you're asking.
