Can Ipad be a monitor for RED ?

I wouldn't expect that for the Red One, but the Epic / Scarlet both having Wifi, there might still be hope for them...

Imagine that : a cheap, lightweight, wireless monitor for the Epic, with at least 10 hours battery life... Hmmmm...

technically yes, if u stream your signal via wi-fi from video village ( doubt any are set up for that yet).

u can monitor the stream from the ipad/ iphone/ laptops via wi-fi (be it via safari or a dedicated app)

I have a feeling in the near future this will be used. The screen is amazing on the iPad. And the fact you can view it at a 178 degree angle is absolutely amazing.

Red's usual response to suggestions like this seems to go:

1. No. It is impossible.

2. We are already making the best camera in the world. We know what we are doing. We have carefully thought out the features and made the right decisions.

But please, it can wait for Scarlet II and Epic II. Or better yet, a module that will go on the brain. Please don't redesign the cameras now.

But the iPad would make a really sweet remote monitor. With the touch screen it could even work with the touch focus system. Latency would be the killer, however.

iPad would but then again its 1024x720 so what kind of output would you get?

You would need an App for it, it's very possible, supposidly the SDK now allows for inputs so you'd take that HDMI to iPad adaptor and deal with it, or you could do, the iPad to Video out and then video out to HDMI, probably the one way to test it in the short run... though its meant for external output and not input...

In theory you could have the app do the stuff like RGB etc. for all the non-RED cameras and just a clean display input for the RED one...

It would take a while though to get it working though I'd think...

Wait until someone creates an HDMI input accessory. Otherwise you'd do something with wifi- i.e. remote VNC a computer receiving a live feed from an HDMI input. But other than the cool factor a proper HD monitor would be better in just about every way.
