XMLua (see what I did there?)
take a look and let me know if you are interested

there are some issues with redcine-x on parallels maybe so I'd like someone to give it a go on a real PC!

Jamie -
Looks good. Nice to see both Mac and PC versions.
Michael
Jamie, I have e-mailed you mate =]
Nice code Jamie.
Tried it out on Mac yesterday.
Had a problem initially - I think - based on the RDM being in a higher level folder that had a space in the name. When I dragged just the RDM folder in, it worked a treat.
Cheers for making my workflow a lot easier [along with Redcine-x v221 of course].

cool
it worked for me too!
just to let people know the script/xsl stuff and instructions are freely downloadable (and editable) from the link in the thread.
if you make it better let us know here!
no one's reported it working on windows yet. i think redcine-x on windows still has issues with dnxhd mxf creation, so maybe later!
Right now i'm messing with the beta of media composer 5. it's very good for my kind of needs.can't say any more obviously.

Hi,
I am trying to get it to work on a windows box, but before I even get to the script parts, I'm having some trouble with fimscribe..
This is what i'm doing...
I load my sequence into filmscribe, set my settings to match the ones in Jamie's video and hit preview. An error appears saying
"The XML template does not support these lists: Scan List"
I hit okay, and it lets me continue, but another error appears saying
"Unable to find keynumber for _______"
and it says that for all the clips in my sequence. I hit okay all, and the preview that appears is empty, except for the general XML headings..
When I look in my bin in avid, there is no keynumber for any of my clips, did I perhaps transcode these wrong for this workflow?
I used metafuze to transcode my red files to dnxhd 36 mxf files and imported them to avid using the ALE metafuse created...
Any ideas?
Hi matt
scan lists and XML are supported on some version(s) of filmscribe
these are the filmscribe with avid media composer 4.02 (maybe earlier but i don't know) and now the beta of 5
also i don't know about the metafuze/ale way of producing rushes.
The redcine-x to avid mxf with ale puts the right metadata in the right place.
If you ever get a version of filmscribe to work post up the xml file it makes and i'll have a look at it to see if we can get what we need from it.
cheers

Matt I had a similar issue trying to follow the Avid "Step by step" workflow. The solution was to upgrade Filmscribe. The version I used came with MC3 and wouldn't work. The version with MC3.5 worked fine.
Jamie - using your method editors can't rename the clips can they? I guess we'll have to use the comments column...
EDIT: Just found a problem with the workflow.
In my original sequence I had a motion clip - 200% speed. When I do the conform, the relinked sequence has the original low res speeded up clip in the timeline. Ok, so I apply the same motion effect to the hi-res source clip which was generated, and overwrite. But the same motion effect applied to the hi-res source clip results in a clip one frame shorter than the low res version.![]()
ooh yeah i found that rubbish as well
i fixed it by making the motion effect a timewarp (there's a way you can do that for a whole sequence -it's in the manual somewhere -promote effects?)
that seemed to make it ok
give it a go and if not then some maths needs to be done!
