Log & Transfer Vs. RedRushes

About to start the edit on a project and doing some testing.
Used L&T and RR on the same clip - the L&T one looks fine the RR one a little on the desaturated side and very slightly softer - saying that both look slightly softer and less saturated than the M proxy files. Basically in FCP the ingested footage appears to have lost picture quality.
In RR used Debayer half/high.
In L&T using pro res hq at 2240* 960 ( the project was shot 4480*1920)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

with gamma shifting being a real pain, especially cross-apps in os x 10.5

besides that i suggest to use clipfinder 2.2.beta 7 (free) or 2.5 beta 3 ($100)
from mr. daun to transcode your RED-data, because fcp's L&T still lacks multithreading capacity meaning it simply doesn't use all your processors. so the more data you produce the more time you lose transcoding it.

clipfinder however performs this excellent and you can furthermore balance the workload on your machine chosing cores/task and even network rendering is included.

2.5 beta 3 is also redcine-x compatible.

i assume you already know mr. daun, who's also in this forum providing quick replies and mind boggling quick updates.

Tried Clipfinder - of concern is the fact that clips load as multi-colored snow.

Any suggestions?

Are there options within FCS or other application ( I'm using FCS 2 6.06) that will allow me to eliminate this Gamma shift or at least manage it to a constant.

Not sure if you guys could answer, but it kind of seemed relevant to this post?

I am just having trouble re-conforming to the Native Red footage with sequences containing clips that have been transcoded using RR as opposed to L&T

When using L&T i never seem to have this problem?

After reading the white paper that comes with the installer I realise now its because the clips from RR don't have the RDM folder within the reel name under the logging info in FCP.

Is there a work around for this problem?

Found this on another post about getting the reel burned in using RR;

But now it iv e already completed the edit without doing this... any thoughts on how I might be able to get this to work???

When you load the clip in the Rushes and set your render options (debayer quality, color space, gamma, etc.) and your resizing options, go to Output, make sure you select Quick Time in "Output Format", then check "Burn In" check-box and select what information you want to be rendered onto or "burned-in" the clip. You have 4 drop-down menus where you can specify what you want burned-in. From your first post I think you definitely want "Reel/Filename" selected as one of the options.
