    Hi All,

I'm trying to figure the factors that will yield the fastest transcode speed in RedCine-X without RedRocket. For people that are transcoding footage without RedRocket, what are your computer set ups and what are the transcode times you're experiencing?

Like for an "a" minute clip, it took RedCine-X "b" minutes to transcode it.

Ram, Processor Speed, # of Cores, Mac vs. PC, etc... any other information that might be helpful is appreciated too.

I know that RedRocket is awesome, but for those who can't afford it at the moment - I think this thread will be really helpful.

    Thanks!

RC36 4k 2:1 24p, RC-X or RedRushes/ClipFinder set to half res debayer, 1080 scaled res from 2k, QT ProRes HQ, 3ghz 8-core MacPro, reading from and writing to different drives, gets around 4 frames a second = 6:1 transcode ratio (1 hour of footage takes 6 hours to transcode).

Shoot Quad HD and scale to 1080 and it goes faster because of cleaner math.

    Hello,

At the Reduser show I asked about an updated RedRushes that would have support for the new "rsx" type files from Redcine-X 2.0 and was told that there are no plans at all to update.

    This really sucks.

Once they update Redline with full RMD support, etc. it should be fairly trivial for someone to write a GUI wrapper application for batch transcoding.

What would be really nice is if RCX could export projects as XML files, so a hypothetical batch transcoding utility could have access to in/out points, multiple grades for multiple instances of clips on the timeline, etc.

I would be happy to pay for that hypothetical app. Something to utilize all eight cores on machines without a rocket.

    Best!

Hey guys, I need your help. Something must be wrong because this is rendering extremely slow!!!. 1:100 transcode ratio. this doesn't make any sense.

I shot some 3k Rc28 16:9. Full quality debayer transcodes made with Redcine - X build 194 from one firewire 800 hardrive into my internal hardrive. I have a pretty fast machine with 2x2.93 Ghz Quad-core Intel Xeon and 16gb 1066 Mhz DDR3. Mac Os 10.5.8

It doesn't make any sense that to render 1 minute of footage it takes 1 hour 40 minutes.

When I see in the monitor activity I can barely see the cpus working. Is this normal 1:100 ration for a full 3 k debayer? I cannot believe it.

    Thanks

try dropping back to a previous version of redcine X, or give red rushes a quick test to see if you get the same result.
