  1. #1 No cuda/mercury for AE cs5!!
There is no CUDA/Mercury. support for new After Effects CS5!
It is very disappointing! They keep that feature for CS6?

Simon Hayhurst, had stated in one of his posts in this forum several months ago that After Effect will not support Cuda, only Premiere, because Premiere and After effects have different engines. That may mean that it might not be supported even in CS6.
However from what Adobe announced, after effects is making huge steps regarding speed issue.
    1- 64 bit
2- support for I7 (read all cores)
    3- enhanced multiprocessor render
    4- multicore rendering open faster
Things have finally began to move..

Mercury won't work well in After Effects where you can have 100 layers fighting for resources. It needs a different render engine because of that.

This is a surprise and disappointment for sure. I have CS4 but rarely use Premier. After Effects is the main app in there for me.

I'll get CS5 at some point but I have less motivation to rush into the CS5 upgrade.

Yea, but try to work on the CC feature film in AE and you will be clear why you need hardware acceleration. Now we are in the mercy of Red (Red Rocket) Development team, and wait to make a proper plugin for AE!
