Framegrab from the digitalcinemasociety.com clip from NAB 2010.
Anyone knows what this is? First I thought it was just like a cheese-stick, but why is it shiny inside the holes?
Any ideas?

could it be a crude anti-theft device ?

focus distance sonar?
It's a place to mount accessories Is it not?

Joseph posted a whole bunch of stills over at Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=...=1338831003738
