    One of the problems with deleting offensive posts is that it can leave holes in a thread, making the conversation hard to follow.
    With other forums, if a post gets deleted, the box is left there with its unique serial number, which gives a clue as to what has happened.
    With this forum, deleting a post seems to remove all traces of it, and the others get renumbered which can be confusing to say the least.

    How about, instead of deleting a post, it was changed to an almost unreadable font, and rather than banning disruptive users, force them to post in the same font, with all their formatting options removed. So, as an example, this post would appear like this:

    How about, instead of deleting a post, it was changed to an almost unreadable font, and rather than banning disruptive users, they were forced to post inth same font, with all their formatting options removed.


    That way, if you really wanted to read why they have to say, you can, but most people could simoply skip obver "grayed" posts. You could even remove the uppercase option and exclamation mark.

    Some of the stuff we delete really ought not be preserved for posterity.
