hopefully when the h264 module comes out there will be a great deal of compatibility, basic apps that can go through ipad,, windows based, android based devices. tablets, and smart phones are all getting very powerful and the more options the better. Stuff like this is cropping up all over the place from every company.

Hmm Windows 7 and a proprietary tablet UI on top of that- yeah I don't see them selling 2 million of those in the first two months... I'd expect specific RED support to be minimal/nil on that particular item.

You don't have to use the proprietary tablet UI.

You can run any win32 app. Which is to say... just about every app in existence. RED support would be all but guaranteed and no app store to deal with.

You need the tablet UI for the multi-touch screen.

Just about every app in existence? Biggest overstatement I've seen all day...

And have fun trying to use scrollbars and things like that with your fingers/a stylus... Tablet PCs running Windows have been around for more than a decade, and the reason that they've never had any success is precisely because they just try to use the regular Windows interface and Windows applications on them (or a slightly modified Windows UI, like Microsoft's failed UMPC project four or five years ago). These applications are designed to be used with a mouse and keyboard, and unless they are heavily modified (which they aren't on Windows tablets, because there's no demand) they will remain tedious to use on the tablet form factor.

    So.

Can I play MW2 on it, then?

I use a Win7 Tablet PC with very little trouble.

Between DOS Box and Windows you cover just about every single app of any significance released in the last 30 years.

Final Cut Pro doesn't have a windows release but it's pretty hard to think of anything that doesn't run on Windows. And for everything else you can run Linux or setup a hackintosh.

I guess you might not be able to run that PPC OS8 app that you just desperately need but it'll run everything else.

Windows Vista and 7 support multi-touch out of the box. So no. Multi-Touch will also work fine without the custom launcher.

Well more and more multi touch tablets are going to come out, competition is gonna be rough, and a lot of companies want to take IPAD sales, as it's doing insanely well. meaning aggressive pricing with great specs. I mean if they can pack some more processing power and more pixels in the screen, for a lower price why not right? Pulling critical focus wirelessly off a tablet isn't far off at all. the more they can pack in, the easier that's gonna be... Especially when monstro comes out :)
