I just had some guys bring me a couple R3D clips they were having problems with. Wouldn't render out of FCP and in Color they only showed the first frame and didn't play and only rendered the first frame.
I tried lots of stuff and nothing worked. So I ended up rendering Prores files out of RedcineX they could use to replace the R3D files in FCP. That worked, but color matching was a pain.
Then as an after thought, I remembered that I used to use Red Alert to fix problem shots. Haven't used Red Alert in a long time. So I open the problem R3Ds in Red Alert, made new proxies, and POOF the clips worked in FCP and Color.
I had done that and more in RedcineX with no luck.
Red - When will RedcineX fix corrupt R3D files like Red Alert does?
