redcine-x softness...

So im guessing this is a redcine thing.. but my images on export are stupid soft.

I set my debayer for 4k at 1/4 3k at 1/2 and 2k at full

shot at 4.5k

I was thinking as long as I was making 720 files from redcine that i could chop those bigger resolutions down to speed up the computer..

but is this what is causing the softness?


can someone run through their non rocket steps for one light/transcoding in redcine x?

1/4 of 4k is 1k, which is below 720p rez it's basically wide-PAL rez. Dropping to 1/2 is 2k, which should produce v sharp and fast 720p for you.

4480/4 = 1120 which you're then scaling up 1280.

Put some effort into it and try a different setting. It won't bite you.

same sharpness
i do not know how can i make it very sharp same 35mm film camera .

Wouldn't it be best to always full debayer... assuming you have time to go get a sandwich when it transcodes?

Pretty much so - full demosaic gives best detail and lowest noise.

Nawaf, you should double check that you have set your debayer settings properly in your export presets, not just in the player viewer drop-down menu. When you make a new export preset in RedCine-X, it defaults to 16/th debayer setting unless you change it.

Setting a best light and running a full debayer to a reasonable size output you should see feature film quality results (as long as you have shot something properly of course). It just takes a bit longer at full debayer.
