Can someone please explain why Clipfinder looks completely different with the saem setup on 2 different machines? Good God, this is annoying. I say again PLEASE COME UP WITH A WORKFLOW THAT WORKS CONSISTENTLY!

Im trying to render quicktimes in Clipfinder. Rendering to ProRes SQ 1280x720 They're coming out completely washed otu on one machine, but look fine on my home machine. It's ridiculous.

    Clipfinder 2.5
    Using New 2009 Color Science
    Redspace gamma and LUT
Proxies look fine, Loupe looks fine, Rendered QTs look awful. Installed the Beta of redalert and redline

You know, the point is to shoot pictures and edit with them, not dick around with all this crap.

    rant over

Have you tried looking at the rendered file on your home machine?

Might just be the infamous Apple gamma problem.

Are you looking at the footage on LCD computer screen or calibrated studio monitor.

Red is having problems with Redline and that is what Clipfinder uses for renders. I haven't rendered with Clipfinder since Redline 246 came out because redline is not working right.

    Red is working on it.

I just rendered a file from Clipfinder and it looks the same as the Loupe in Clipfinder.

    I am using Clipfinder 2.5 beta RL1 (350) and Redline 256

This is a version of Clipfinder Hans made to work around some issues with Redline 246 and newer.

Red Alert installs and old version of Redline that doesn't support the new color science.
RCX 256 installs the new version of Redline that does support the new color science

Red Alert is EOL and not supported any more. If you install Red Alert after RCX you will overwrite the new version of Redline.

I would try reinstall RCX and test again.

Just installed Redline 256, opened Clipfinder and got an error saying "Redline command utility not found" any suggestions?

If there is anyone to get pissed at it is apple and quicktime.

Depending on what app and version of QT you are using the Program itself will set the gamma for the file. So it can look awful in QT on the desktop but perfect in FCP.

You need to look at the files in your NLE to determine if your gamma is effed. The desktop QT player is not a great indicator.

+1 to that, the difference in qt X and qt 7.0 have huge gamma differences. I find that qt 7.0 is much closer to comes out of fcp via canvas or even color than qt X. You should double check all your qt versions.

    Bobby,

If you go to the command line and type:

    redline

and hit return what do you get?

    or type

    which redline

    and hit return.
