  1. #1 downgrading to 1.1.4 won't let me
I'm running Smoke on Mac and need to run the older driver and firmware cause Smoke doesn't support the new drives.

When I go to downgrade I can install the old driver but the firmware will not install as it says "Could not open card"

Anyone know how to get the older driver and firmware working

I would think that putting the Rocket's DIP switches into "safe-mode" for programming would do the trick, but I would contact Red tech support if I were you.

I haven't touched the card so would be surprised to find if the card moved the switches while being in my Mac Pro

Hey Paul, why do you think I should change the DIP switches?

Seems a pain to have to pull out the Mac Pro and remove the card to play with the switches when I just want the card to work as advertised :-)

DIP switches don't need to be touched if you have been able to upgrade the firmware in the past. You may need to install the old firmware from the current driver, then roll back to the old driver. I'm not sure, it may not work that way either. Give that a try, if not then probably contact Deanan at red...

Yeah I have been able to upgrade then downgrade in the past but now its not working.
I find it weird that I'm now being told to move the DIP switches.

RED Rocket seems like a great unknown with no one really knowing what is going on.
    Crazy for a $4700 PC card :-(

How are you downgrading? Are you doing the firmware first and then the driver or vice versa?

    Hey Deanan

I've been trying with installing the Driver then the Firmware in that order.

    Cheers

Rory: first of all make sure you're always using the driver & firmware from the same installer package, it can be easy to accidentally mix them up which makes things a lot harder.

To downgrade from the latest and greatest to an earlier version:

    1) extract the earlier installer package and run the driver installer in that package (mac) or force install custom driver (win)

    2) shutdown the machine and then power it back on

    3) go to the folder you extracted the earlier installer package to and now run the firmware installer from that

    4) shutdown the machine and then power it back on

    5) you should be running the old version of everything at this point

I have done the above procedure many times myself as I was testing new releases of the drivers / firmware internally and then needed to downgrade. I've never had a problem with it.

    Thanks Rob.
I've done it in the procedure many times too but for some reason it wouldn't do it for me.

I've actually done a clean system reinstall, a pain but its done. And it seems to have solved the problem of being able to downgrade the RR.

Now just have to test it with Smoke and see if it will work
