How do you find the fps of a clip in the metadata? I'm assuming it is stored there. I'm working with sports footage I shot last fall at a timebase of 29.97, but I can't find the fps in the metadata.

The shot FPS is not stored in metadata, just the timebase.

You can see all the metadata for your file by running redline:

    REDline -i /path/to/file.R3D --printMeta 1

I wonder if RED are planning on adding this as a feature??? Its a real pain not knowing what the shot FPS are, especially for estimating how long red rocket transcodes will take....
Why not add a column to REDCINE- X with Shot FPS??? It would also be nice to have this feature in Clipfinder

Not a solution, but can't you guesstimate it from the shutter speed?

You already know how many frames are in the clip, why does the FPS matter?
