Is there a microphone shoe on the Red One camera? I'm assuming it doesn't have a built-in mic? Will Red One be making mics in the future?

I just bought a Red one but it does not have a microphone. You Rob probably mean the Microphone shoe? Anyway Leroy I use a Manfrotto adapter (#MA143S) that you can screw on the top mount and on it you can insert aShock mount (I use the RODE NGT 2)

Red does not have a built in microphone shoe or mounting - you will have to buy third party ones which fit the mounting holes on the handle or Red top mounts, or have clamps to fit on camera rods.

As far as I know, Red has not made any announcements about making mics.

Meh, just use some gaff tape. It's not gonna sound good anyway, mounted to the camera.

No mic shoe on an 18k HD camera?? Surprised. Not expensive to add. Don't know why Red chose not to. Perhaps they'll add it on the next version of the Red One. Or offer it as an extra.
