I don't think is going to happen Jeff, as all you really need is just an L shape bracket which I think that is what ET is using on the Bomb EVF.

Absolutely love the ET EVF Mount, and yes if they were to make one more compact why not, but I'm not sure they will, the current design just kick A%$#@!!!

I am with Jeff, RED made a compact EVF, I am sure ET could make a compact mount. I know they are not the same but the Zacuto is a great example of a compact mount.

Plus if you mount it on the Mantis you can't slide the camera off. You have to take the tube mount off first.

I'm really hoping for a new mount from ET. Smaller, lighter, and maybe even cheaper.

Sorry but I know exactly what I'm talking about.

Also that's was the main reason that I did not get ET EVF mount but have bought a lot of more other ET stuff.

Maybe again this picture below can address some of ET mount issues with R1 body that I did not wanted to deal:

Of course. And that is a perfectly fine solution. And I love the current EVF mount. But I think Stephen and Hector could work some magic on the Bomb EVF and come up with something great that might be more fitting for a smaller EVF on a smaller camera body.

True. Having the EVF tethered to the Mantis can cause problems that way.

@ iBloom -- it's a tight fit. I don't have my RED gear here or I would take some pictures to show some different mounting configurations. I don't always use ET's rod clamp that comes with the mount and I've come up with some other ways to use the mount that doesn't involve their support rod.

Exactly. Cheaper would be a bonus, I'd take it if it were not. I just see it as another chance to innovate here.

    This thread cracks me up!

I guess not everyone thinks like I do.

I think there is a place for Zacuto gear in the market - but I assure you - it's not with ACs working on serious, high-end productions.

ET's products are widely accepted as "standard" items for a RED camera package.

We are screaming right now because several of ET's products are back ordered - and the demand is significant.

IF I have time before I get on a plane for my much needed vacation this Saturday - I'll post a video of just how awesome the RED BOMB and new ET Bomb bracket is - and how you can fly it on the Mantis, etc. etc. etc.

Sanjin - it's all good. I'm happy you are happy with your Zacuto bracket. Horses for corses. I'm not sure what REDUSER would be without your ... passionate posts.

Even though ET's bracket is the standard there's one thing I absolutely prefer about Zacuto's bracket is that I can get further forward on the camera (at least an inch more) and thus have more weight behind me. Because I don't use the Mantis and just a thin shoulder pad and Moose Bars, my rig runs a good inch or more lower, obviating the need for a 15mm down tube in Sanjin's photo. Because of the extra hardware (sliding bar) at the front of the eyepiece, the ET doesn't go as far forward (you end up bumping into the MB and FF) as you can get the Zacuto. Zacuto may not be as "pro" looking but for handheld, I'll take it over ET's in a heartbeat. Also, if I'm doing an almost exclusively hand held gig, I often get rid of the ET baseplate/dovetail, shaving a good five pounds and lowering the rig another inch. I then mount the FF/MB using ET's 15mm mini mount. As much as RED loves to be modular, nothing beats the low and rear heavy configuration of an ENG camera, which is what I do my best to affect. I personally find the Mantis / ET eyepiece bracket "over" engineered with a lot of simplicity lost in the mix.

i saw the picture with the axis of the lens even with the viewfinder, where does that exist in the ENG or Motion Picture camera world? I have never used it.

I worked with ET on the first prototype EVF bracket and they bent over backwards to make it happen in a short time. These guys rock. I am sure if a case was made for a mod they would address it. And if you don't think they can make things smaller you should have seen the first proto bracket, it was pretty big.

Brian, where are the Bomb EVFs? Can you give any indication on how many will ship in the coming weeks? I have an order in, and I'm worried about delivery times. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
    Cheers.
