    Hi, all,
I am using Color for color grading, and it seems nice.
I know Da Vinci has a new package with an affordable price. Anyone tried it? Any experience to share? How Da Vinci compares to Color?
    Many thanks in advance.

It's not out yet, and the price is a bit more than the software, but it better be better, or it won't go anywhere...

I think the hardware requirements are pretty steep to get it to really run effectively. I would wait for the new Mac Pros to ship, and plan on getting a top of the line 2-quad-core machine with lots of RAM. I'm not sure what graphics card they require, but you'll also need a lot of very fast storage and a calibrated monitor. The $995 software itself is the smallest part of the expense.

The control surface is beautiful, but an expensive option ($30K). No question, some beautiful movies have been done with Resolve, and I used a daVinci 2K (hardware) color-corrector for almost ten years with great results. Not sure when the software-only Resolve is shipping, but it should be very soon.

Bear in mind, like a lot of things, color-correction is all about the artist using the box -- not the box itself.
