    My dear fellows,

    1)

Here's my public answers on cinematography.com, first off:

    http://www.cinematography.com/forum2...howtopic=26162

    http://www.cinematography.com/forum2...howtopic=26163

    2)

And the email sent to Mr. Gregory Mirand four hours ago (no reply so far) -- I just didn't call him 'cause tonight it would be too late, even for his own cellular phone. Where I could introduce a copy of the message received tonight from this sender that I had the unpleasure of meeting :) plus a copy of the reply that I sent to him five hours ago. Tracking message received so, he could read it but didn't reply. Instead, he decided to come here and post it.

Here's the email sent to Gregory Mirand, then (only my text):

    «[I]Hi Gregory,

I'm upset with all this. What exactly does it mean?

    Kind Regards,

[text of the message sent to Anthony Edward (full text):]

    «Hi Anthony,

As matter of fact, I had asked to Gregory if I would have his permission in order to post his information on the RED boards. Only by error, there was another open thread (first opened) on a different section (35mm). I'm not sure if Gregory had realized that cinematography.com had a RED section but it actually has.

ALL this information was detailed by myself up to the last detail. Including the Zeiss quality quote. They're not my words and I was very explicit in order to know what I could write or not. I'm used to deal with media v.g. newspapers. And in life, I already had to stand corrected press interviews, after previous wrong quotes, distorting my own words on front page.

As I said, 'cause I wouldn't like to read any further complaint from others or inaccurate information. Succeeding the Gregory's approval.

I'm very cautelous with the information that I share with anyone. When I'm informing someone, I'm used to quote my sources under their own awareness. Or I don't quote no one else at all.

You can expect loyalty from myself but you can't expect anything else from yourselves towards to myself for this or any other matter.

Of course, you have no clue or idea with who you're talking about. But I can assure you that, as former producer with work awarded in Venice, National TV producer, etc etc, I'm used to be the man in charge regarding my own business/activity. And I'm used to be very accurate, first off with me. Exactly in order to demand from others the same treatment, for sure.

I've exposed my name in your behalf under Gregory's agreement and surveillance. My name has the value of a full CV of several years of work in the past, now in the present, tomorrow in the future. The people with who I am in contact with, they know that can have absolute confidence on me. They're used to put questions. And I'm used to answer them.

Of course, I'll completely refrain from posting any future information regarding the Optar Illumina lenses without asking you first and/or under your permission. As always. Whenever the name of your brand was quoted. But I will never refrain to answer the questions from those whom have the above-mentioned confidence on my information. As well, I will never refrain to post my own opinions about all that I think that should be mentioned by my person. That's all, I believe.

    You're welcome and warm regards,

    Emanuel A.

Just a note to add that only tomorrow after a phone call to Gregory Mirand I will say or not what I could not say.

I should be proud of you 'cause since the beginning you understood very well that I had a commitment of silence with someone that since yesterday you could all know the name.

However, he had asked me secrecy about other details and I will respect it at least until to have a conversation with Gregory.

Nevertheless, for those who already know me. And I have actually proud to be friend and to have some good friends (and partners too) coming from these boards. This seems quite odd. Also to me. :) So, I should talk first with the same person that HAD COMBINED with me all the specs announced here yesterday.

Last but not least, my guess is that they don't know yet if they have the right skills to go. Mechanics, etc. But this tease :usd: remains for another day. :)

For those who know all the details that had been chatted on the other thread, you should surely have noticed the changes on the way. It seemed that every week we had a new twist. Mr. Gregory Mirand's input.

That's why I cannot even admit that after my yesterday's phone call with Gregory, this rep may go saying what he's saying. I didn't know him from nowhere. Only Gregory Mirand. And during these three months he had been delaying "the" announcement. For this?

Although only tomorrow I may have a full opinion for the purpose, I can advance that with such attitudes, I'll be away from Optar Illumina. And I'd recommend the same for everybody.

More to come next days. I'm still shutting up about what I should not say yet. That is, my vow of secrecy. But one conclusion I can have: if this unqualified chief marketing officer is what they have as the best for the job (?) ... It's not just poor mechanics but it will definitely be poor customers...

My idea is that he's just acting like that because...
Like a child when feels that is being surpassed into his own playground.

    1) I already answered you posting via cinematography.com.

    2) I already answered you PMing you via cinematography.com.

    3) I already sent an email to Gregory Mirand asking him why he said what he said yesterday and you're here posting what you're posting.

    4) So now, you've just earned some credits for this answer here.

Hey Emanuel - you might be taking this too hard. Edward's post read more like a legal thing.

I'm glad Gregory decided to go in this 35mm direction. I bought a set of the S16mm lens (and yeah, the 50mm does cover the RED frame) from him last fall and told him about the RED. Optar made a few 35mm PL mount lenses before. I wonder if these will be a tooling up of the old ones, or something new. Keep us abreast.

No, no Dale. I appreciate your post but maybe you haven't had patience to follow all the details. His show-off sounds very odd. He was warned. He simply went there. Rather non-professional trying to show work.

    Hi all;

Lens options are very exciting - especially at reasonable prices... but let's not forget that what matters most is quality - not low prices. Until all these optics are extensively tested..... we really don't know what they offer.

I just spent the last three years hand picking optics for my Canon digital still cameras and I can tell you it's frustrating. The high resolution of digital sensors is way more unforgiving than film was. Lenses that were acceptable for film were suddenly very soft on the latest 10MP plus sensors.
