    Hi folks

Looking for a way to house a RED Rocket and hook it to a 17 inch MacBook Pro.

Anyone have any experience with this or see a reason why it wouldn't work?

    http://www.netstor.com.tw/_03/03_02.php?ODU=

I know about the other (more expensive!) options - just wondered about this one because it will seemingly do the required job.

    Thanks in advance

Interesting find and a good question. A plug-in for my notebook would be excellent. Looking forward to an answer.

    Cam,

I found a user using a different enclosure but looks like a similar idea.

    Check this out

Apologies if this is already known. I hadn't ever seen a Red produced Rocket and thought this user had done what you would like to do.

Disregard this please. I didn't realize a mobile rocket was a product out in the wild.

Basically - there are a couple of options that currently exist (such as maxxdigital/iStorage Pro)- I'm just looking for a cheaper alternative.

It looks like the RED Rocket just might fit in there. DVS says their Atomix card is 2/3 length (which looks to be what RED is re-badging); 2/3s would be 208mm. The enclosure you're looking at allows 218mm according to the specs, so it should work.

Can anyone confirm how long a RED Rocket card is? red.com is silent on the subject.

UPDATE: Also, you'd also want to verify that the power draw from the RED Rocket isn't too much the enclosure. The marketing materials for the enclosure claim it's for graphics cards, etc. since it has a dedicated power supply, so you'd probably be okay with it.

    Thanks Erich.

Unfortunately it appears the RED Rocket is too big to fit inside this NetStor unit. Bugger!
