  1. #1 RED-RAM goes swimming.... :(
I just learned that an AC on a shoot renting my two RED RAMs has dropped one of them into a swimming pool. They have it pulled apart, trying to dry it out... Will be interesting to see how tough the RAM really is. LOL... Kinda bummed about the RED-RAM though since it may be junk now and we can't buy new ones.

Any updates on the new SSD modules???

    ACK!

Really sorry to hear that, Jeff. Hope they let it dry and didn't actually try to plug it back in yet.

    Best!

Dam.. I know that stuff happens, but what an Idiot, hehe, dropping a 4.5k Drive in the pool, I guess could have dropped the all camera set up....

BTW Jeff, I do have one RED RAM that I might sale if you do need one..

Tell him to stick it in a sealed container of rice, I've rescued a few electronic devices that took inadvertent swims this way.

Being that it's solid-state, sure seems like there might be hope. Are they doing the rice trick?

Edit: Evin's too quick on the draw and beat me to it!

Most likely component to fail would be the controller I imagine. I would actually wash it out. I would think the chlorine/bromine would cause corrosion concerns.

Then again I heard about a CF card that was in a lake for something like 5 years and came out fine!

If it gives you any hope--I ran a Red 8-gig CF card through the washing machine and the dryer, and it was fine.
