Is there a plug-in for AE that does the same thing as FCP smoothcam?
Does smoke or flame have this and what would it be called?
What about other systems ... do they have a similar feature that does the job?

One that really impressed me was Mercalli from Prodad. It works better if on very shaky shots your shutter is set higher (it's better if you can plan your shaky footage ). This way, you don't get motion blur where it shouldn't be.

2d3 StedyMove - Plugin for After Effects, Premiere Pro, & Combustion

Flame has 3d tracker so you don't need any other plugins.

Smoothcam is pretty awful. The best I have used are Deshaker (Virtualdub) and Mercalli.

Coremelt Lock n Load? I haven't used it even though I own it, it was part of a NAB package deal. Their other plug-ins are pretty good, though, and I can vouch for those.
