This was shot with Peter Lik and Mick Plumridge in a ghost town near Las Vegas over the weekend. Both said "impossible" when we went into the barn. It was wicked dark in there and blistering noon desert-sun outside. They both fell over dead when they saw this. I called 911. They are OK now... :-)

Staying up late is always worth it. Something nostalgic about this image. Beautiful.

    17-50mm RPZ.

ISO 500 (against my nature but we forgot ND's).

    HDRx +4

I am surprised that nobody else caught the fact that this is +4 not the top end
of HDRx of +6!!!! or am i wrong?

Words do not do this breakthrough justice, congrats to all the redheads!, and thanks.

Our testing has shown that +3 is just about all you would need given the native DR of the MX sensor. It is nice to know that you have "money in the bank" when you need it. We just haven't found that many situations when +6 was necessary.

That would be the first time sunspots and landscape would be exposed correctly in one scene, perhaps?

First of all, my congratulations, this really is revolutionary.

I was also thinking about the +4 HDRx used... What would have happened to the sun lit ground at +6? Would that have given it some more texture? I like the higher exposure outside but for the sake of knowing it would have been interesting to see the full HDRx™ range applied in such an extreme condition.
