    Hehe,

I couple of days ago I came back from Bangladesh through Frankfurt and we were in a hurry due to short flight connection.
With the camera in my bag they wanted as usual to check it upon explosives and I said kindly : "No problem, just that we are in a hurry and that they are waiting for us already!"

The security officer : "Sir this is not Mcdonalds, this is about security"

I shut my mouth because I didn't want to miss my flight.

X-Rays see through gaff tape. And taping it just makes it look like you're trying to hide something.

That said, I really don't think "bomb" on the side in small letters is going to make one bit of difference. TSA is not going to give anyone crap over the word "bomb" on the side. They're going to study it regardless, maybe even ask you to plug it in and demonstrate it. I've had that the couple times I've traveled with my RED One + EVF and I think they were just more curious about what it all was.

Call me strange, but one of the first things I'm going to do with my EVF when I get it is fly somewhere with it. Just because it says "bomb" on the side. ...Well, not really. I just have a few projects lined up for Epic when it comes in and I'm hoping I'll have my bomb EVF to go with it.

FWIW, I thought "RED Sight", as on the older mockups, was a better name. So there. :P

Well I know If I was a terrorist and I made an explosive device I was trying to smuggle on an airplane the first thing I'd write on it in big bold letters would be "Bomb". That way there would be no confusion.

    Guys,
even so I understand why some of you might be concerned, this has been discussed so many times,
and my post here was simply to showcase a nice little gesture RED is making in including a Totally COOL
little case for the EVF at no additional cost, no matter if it is a small case and it might cost little to nothing,
it is still something EXTRA FOR NOTHING, but most important it is a case that internally HUGS the EVF
tightly and secures it for transport, so for this I wanted to share it with you guys, and thank RED fro ti,
because I Appreciated the Gesture Very Much!!

Its a shame, but the 'bomb' name probably will cause an issue at some point, even though its utterly illogical for it to do so.

To put it in perspective, a couple of years ago it was widely reported when a guy was nearly arrested for wanting to board a flight wearing a transformers t-shirt. The robot in the picture was holding a gun...

Can't we all just leave the bomb thing be and be excited that they give you a mini pelican case when you buy the thing? That's the point of this thread anyway. They ain't taking bomb off the side, so let's just move on with our lives!

(My fault for bringing it up. I was just curious because the box didn't say bomb.)

I requested to speak to a supervisor. I told him that I wanted to report a serious security concern that he should not ignore if he wants to keep his job. I told him that I was terribly concerned that imbeciles are employed as security officers. I mean, if someone is so incompetent that he considers nail clippers a security risk, just imagine what he may NOT regard as a security risk! The security officer is the biggest security risk because, clearly, he makes poor judgement what is and what isn't a security threat.

They returned my nail clippers and appologised.

Having said that, I am not confident this would work in US....I guess not.
In the US they would take you to a room to meet the supervisor, who would then give you a full body cavity check.

    Zakaree is exactly right.

This whole bomb thing is so old and annoying already.

You have two options if you are that concerned:

    1. Don't buy the bomb. Get the old one. Or the redrock. Or nothing at all.

2.Buy it and have a professional machinist sand it down. A professional will know how to treat it with care and not damage the eyepiece. Have them
Etch your name and initials in instead. Simple.
