It is ready for productions... and there will be announcements pretty soon about some big ones that will be shot on EPIC.

So Jim, will audio work by the time they ship....

The side and rear SSD recording modules are available first.. in fact the Side SSD is the standard side module, we will not be making a side CF module for Epic. Don't worry though, there is an SSD adapter that turns CF cards into an SSD mag so you can still use all your CF cards in either the side SSD or read SSD modules.

And of course all RED monitoring options already work on EPIC.. the existing EVF, 5" and 7" LCDs as well as the new touchscreen monitors and of course the Bomb EVF. Plus 1080 HD-SDI and HDMI outputs on the brain.

so hot swap CF card module = hot swap ssd module? Sounds groovy to me!

The more options that allow for easy future expansion the better the next gen cams get!!

Cool. So you'll be able to run EPIC in minimal 'brain only' mode, with an SSD side module replacing the CF slot we see here? as thats how it ships?

    Thx Jason

yes.. its how it will ship if you choose that option. Absolute minimum config would be a Brain, Side SSD and a Touchscreen monitor. (assuming you are powering from a battery belt or AC pack) Add a side handle for battery power and additional control, and/or a Redmote for icing on the cake and wireless control.

A question, I see that Epic is the primary focus to get all the tech working and running. So is there a possibility that because Epic is ready it's also pulling the Scarlet closer to release due to the technology being ready in Epic? It's essentially the same tech as in Scarlet I persume?
