Avid MC5 via AMA - Imported RED Image is being cropped

Ok, i'm looking at one of my shots with the Y scope and there is data below "16" but it's colored white, and so defined as "illegal". It is there though. Does this mean I've preserved the shadow detail or clipped it?

If you can see them on the scope it means it is there, but not viewable in TV standards colourspace [rec709 for HD]. So you can't see those 'white' values on a tv/video monitor, hence no detail in shadows.
Using the "restrict" option maps those values above 16 and makes them visible - detail in shadows.
You can raise them up in CC, but would need to do it on a shot by shot basis.

Agreed - the default should be showing all of the original aspect ratio.

Just created a "new user" and a "new projekt" still says: "Center Keep Size"

hmmm... I could have sworn I saw that working when they fixed it internally. Is this an existing project or a new project. If existing, can you try a new one and see what it defaults to?

i created a "new projekt" - default is "Center Keep Size"

I wouldnt put it past Avid to switch or forget on patches :P
