    Hi Guys

Just put Build 351 32 Bit on two of our systems (both 8 cores) and also installed Redline from the same 351b download, as well as the latest Rocket driver and firmware update on the system with the previously happy Rocket in it.

REDCine-X seems to be working okay on both systems, but neither of them are showing any text on many of the program buttons - most of the clip settings are fine, but preferences, for example, just shows the check marks and no text, the same with half the buttons in look presets and so on. Any ideas? I have installed everything a couple of times but it makes no difference.

Rocket all installed fine, but sometimes it decides to show up on the viewer, other times it isn't there at all...

Finally I found time to test the new-new colour science.

RedColor2 is a nice interpretation of the sensor's data, at least colour-wise. Obviously more desaturated as RedColor1 which is good for grading.

I find that RedColor1 with RedGamma1 brings the best offline-dailies when you cut off R3Ds and use the camera settings. The dailies are saturated, with enough "punch" to give an inexperienced eye a clue what the final look could be like - and if not, the result is pleasing enough for editing and client eyes when it comes to an offline approval.

But this is not new news.

The new news for me is that RedFilm is a very, very pleasing foundation for grading. I'm still on M-sensor (I'm slightly tight-fisted in the moment...I know MX is much better... I know, I know... but Epic is soon to be released... Stage 3...) and I must say that I alway have chosen RedLog for grading with good results but RedFilm delivers even more detail at 320 ASA which is huge.

Below are two shots I took when I directed a commercial a fortnight ago. The first is RedColor2 and RedFilm at 320 ASA with no curves applied. The second pictures is a graded version I did on my Smoke using ColourWarper. The result might be a bit harsh but this has been the look we went for. Please note how much detail is in the "naked" RedFilm negative.

Warm Regards to the Red team for this achievement,

    Hans

EDIT: Just found out how bad the pictures look like. I'm not sure how to off-load better copies.

Now hopefully in better quality. The naked picture is shot on M-sensor and Zeiss Masterprime 25mm at 320 ASA, Redcolor2 and RedFilm, the graded shot has been colour timed in Smoke.

I am using a Mobile Rocket for transcoding with RCX 351 to Avid DNxHD36 1080 x 1920 23.98 fps. Every ten to twenty clips RCX crashes, quitting unexpected. Any idea what could be causing this? Has anyone had success doing large batches for Avid on build 351?

  5. #195 RCX351/RC2/RG2 + QT Wrapper?
Hi, great new build! I am using smoothcam in FCP on some 4K wrappers in a HD timeline. It would be really great if RCX351/RC2/RG2 could work properly when generating new wrappers. Best wishes, Calle

One great gift for christmas would be for red.com to reflect the latest software versions...It's very heartbreaking to see ones work getting the conversion done in Redcine-X 262 because some on-line technician believes it's the latest one :-(
Jim & co :-), is there any chance it would be possible to get the support site to reflect the latest installments?
And if possible, make an archive section for deprecated versions.....we are still seeing folks trying to run a lot of stuff thru redrushes and red alert :-(

It's just so terrible to see quality go out the window for no reason at all....:-)

Second that! Another idea would be to build in an update notice in the application if the user has an active internet connection.

He sure does, and I admire him for doing so...

Problem is that "common" people go to www.red.com to download software, not http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46523

Neard's like you and me don't have a problem, because we follow the threads in "recon"

I just think it's unfortunate that the great leaps in development of the color science get's lost because common people wont obtain the correct software.

The most used way to get redcine-x will probably be to google....and that also leads straight to red.com
