Good question. Machined Side Handles and Side SSD modules will be ready for these machined bodies... as will batteries for the handle. You can use RED Bricks or other battery options just as with a RED ONE. 64GB, 128GB and 256GB SSDs will also be available. REDCINE-X supports EPIC now... you just haven't seen it. There is RED Rocket support, 5K at 1/2 quality realtime for now. Those would be the options available when the EPIC-M bodies are ready. I might choose to give it another name. :-)

Oh... touchscreen 5" LCDs work and your old RED LCDs work also (no touchscreen obviously). HDMI and HD-SDI outputs work. You can shoot a movie now... actually, there will be a few announcements soon of people shooting features on +13 Tattoos.

I'm guessing REDmotes are a little further down the line?

Sorry... I forgot about REDmotes. Machined versions of those also.

Prices for all machined accessories will be more than production versions.

JJ, your announcment really isn't very clear. I'm so surprised people are ready to send you $$ without knowing what they are getting and how much. When you say "machined," how are the non-machined cameras going to be made, out of plastic molds? Do you mean just the brain is $45,000 and the body is $x more? Is this brain different than the brain going into the standard, non-delux model? Some months ago, titanium was being talked about. If these special models are all titanium, super brain Epics, then even I'll stand in line for them. Please slow down a bit, forget that it's Thanksgiving, and explain your thinking a bit better. Thanks on behalf of all of us.

I have no problem with this, but I just think those of your well above that line should not get too excited.
I would assume that anyone in the world, present RED ONE owner or not would be eligible for this hand built deal. Think about it ... a company says I'll sell you a hand built brain for $45,000, now if 8,000 orders came in what would that company do? They'd build 8,000 brains. So if you have RED ONE #1,000 and you send in $45,000 you'll get your hand built brain, (in order). Now it's possible that they might cease production of the hand built sometime ... but I bet everyone who jumps on the first offer will get filled!

Wow! Awesome news! Sure hope I can get my order in ... even with such a high serial number.

    Hey Jim,

Just curious, but is the physical shell of the camera what you are referring to in regards to going the hand built route? Or, does hand machining refer to some of the many parts going inside as well? My layman thought would be that the guts would be the tricky part and the body would just be the capsule in which all the complexity rests inside of. Thanks and rock on- Jay

You'll probably get a thousand requests for those, or more. The question is how many will you be able to build. There will be hundreds of willing renters for each no matter how many you can crank out. :) Sounds like a great plan Jannard, money well spent for all the additional feedback and support knowledge gained considering this little beast of a time-machine will sell by the dozens of thousands.

Good luck with all the work still ahead and a resounding congratulations for the looong road already traveled. My biggest hope regarding Red has always been that it would inspire other American (and other) companies to also emulate NASA of the 60's.

If you build it they will come, to buy it. If you buy it they will come, to rent it. If you rent it you will come, to feel like you just landed to the flippin' moon!

    Happy Thanks Giving to all!
