I dont get it.. it use to be fast.. now its taking 10-12 min to offload 3 gigs of footage from a cf card. I feel like my firewire 800 and esata ports are really slow for some reason...

even transferring the info to external esata drives its really slow...

    anyone have a recommendation ?
my 2007 macbook pro transfers the same footage in half the time..

and this one is 8 core- 16 gig ram -

I feel your pain. After 12yrs of being a loyal Mac user I switched to PC, the described phenomena above was one of the deciding factors that pushed the switch..
I think a lot of Mac users experience the same but don't talk about it.. I'm stumped but this seems to happen to all my Mac friends too..

You could try to track down the problem, before deciding though...
Working on a number of machines, and if this was a persistent thing, there would have been an uproar... -:)

You are transferring from external redmag to external esata?

I would run speedtests on every disk, to see where it bottles up first...

AJA system tools is a good and free place to start...

BTW, aren't you running a Hackintosh?
Life is good. So is RED...
