Jim,
It has certainly been a roller-coaster ride to here. You can certainly argue your side of this endeavor has been significantly more of one then ours but your own words define the "bravery" required to jump in to this, especially at such an early point. The last couple of years have been marked by anticipation and dreams even, at times, school-boy giddiness. On the flip side, it has been a long ride, with realistic unknowns, unforeseen delays and changing anticipations, but that is really what I would like to thank you for. Thank you for making us/me a part of this journey. I don't know of any other company with any other project that shows as much transparency and honesty about where the development of said project is, as you have been. And honestly, there was never a time that I felt you would fail or even simply not live up to the expectation. Certainly expectations of the broader goal have been realized. Components have changed, the exact specs have evolved and true to your word "everything is subject to change" except successfully shooting and editing 4K.
I find myself still dazed a bit, now several days after RED Day and having received RED 76, am I actually now unmistakably on the cusp of the future of cinema? Do I really have a RED ONE right here with me...in Tulsa, OK of all places?!?
Its a great feeling, its almost an honor. Because I hold this craft in such high regard and often feel that I watch it from a distance and practice it from a distance, so far from L.A. and other larger film markets, it is a wild and powerful notion for me to be a part of this "movement".
"Thank you" doesn't really do it justice, but its all I can do for now. In time the footage of mine and countless others will say it much louder and more eloquent then these words can. I mean, thats the beauty of this medium that I am transfixed on.
So to all of RED, from Jim and Ted through the whole team that has put in the ridiculous hours, the engineers and developers and programmers, to the people that have helped me directly, Kelly, Brent, Zack, Shawn and others, down to Taylor and those that just keep the doors open and the phones calls answered, thank you.
This really is just the beginning. I am a RED Head for life.
