    Hey Folks,

Wondering if someone can shed some light on this one:

An on set data tech is making me DNX HD media via Red Cine X. There is audio being recorded to the camera (guide track) that I want to have access to when I bring in my media. When I import the ALE created by Red Cine X and link to the MXF audio and video media that I've copied to the Avid Media Files folder the video comes up fine, but all the audio is offline.

If I import the AAF files created by Red Cine X the audio is there, but a great deal of the metadata contained in the ALE is now missing (ie all the camera settings, etc.)

I'm feeling more comfortable working with the ALE for the sake of the data but I'd love to have that audio be online (I can see the MXF audio files at the finder level).

    Thoughts / ideas greatly appreciated.

Import the AAFs, select all, then do a File->Import. In options, select the last radio button (merge based on known sources). Select ALE. All metadata will be added to the AAF files and it will preserve the audio tracks in the process.

    Hi Michael !

I have the same problem since a long time, but putting all the files on a timeline and relinking the sequence has solved that for smaller projects, but that is also not working anymore. In most cases the metadata of the AAF files are enough but having all metadata in the offline edit is saver.
your advice above linked the audio file to the AAF files but I have problems to merge the ALE into them. Could you please make a desktop movie of that?? that would be awsome...
if we could export audio only from RCX into a wav file for example, we could do a batch import, but thats not a really good solution... even when the mxf files are already there...

Yes... I have asked the marketing folks to create a chapter point list for that video as it covers several workflows.

Using redcine-x b454 the duration on the audio mxf files is far longer than the actual content, resulting in files that will not play. Has anyone else seen this? I'm copying the MXF file into the MXF directory, then importing AAFs, then mergeing to the ALE. If I look at the mxf files using the media tool it shows the incorrect durations on the aMXF files.

Has anyone else seen this? It happens if I render via redline or a rocket.

**update. All is fine. Media was 29.97 but render from RedCine-X as 23.98.

    thanks,
