  1. #1 The Perfect Histogram...
    Here is an idea.

Post an image of the perfect histogram. You do not have to post the shot as well. Just your idea of what a perfect histogram would look like.

    Posting the shot helps.

I think this thread might be a helpful tool to allow people to see what a well exposed shot/hostogram looks like.

Mine is by no means perfect, but I work with this shot a lot when new build is released. Please PM to e-mail me an r3d snapshot and I will host them.

the single frame of this file can be downloaded here:

Nice idea DB! We should move this to workflow though, maybe generate separate category's including skin tones. Hope things are well in the TDot.

    Yeah.

I am thinking also that if people want to PM me and send me an r3d snapshot then I will host them on a spot on my website.

This way there will be a nice collection of files for people to work with and examine on their own.

Great idea! Especially since I've only been shooting Red a couple months, I'll follow this one closely. My own from recent shoot...

David, is this a histogram of the footage as shot? Then it's perfect. I'd expect to get something wider on at least the dark side aftr playing with it in rcx.

Christopher, that is a great exposure considering only shooting for a couple of months.

Thanks Lim! Actually, I've been shooting stills for 20 years so, I'd better have that exposure thing figured out by now :)

Just for fun, here's a still of the same space I shot some months earlier. Phase One P65+ back & Rodenstock 70mm HR-W.

The fact that the M-X sensor can match the DR and color fidelity of a $40k digital back leaves me with a big smile.

    Christopher,

Let me know if you want to come through China. This has been a great forum and I got my FX supervisor Eric for one of our features shot in Taiwan through this forum.

We certainly welcome talents in this part of the world. So far, we had the privileged of hosting mainly Australian and Malaysian DPs and Directors.
