  1. #1 Red epic atom 3d rig - first look - element technica neutron scarlet 3d rig

Today, I was assisting at the Santa Fe Stereographic 3D Cinematography Workshop at RED Studios Hollywood.

Here we were lucky enough to get the very first public viewing of the RED EPIC ELEMENT TECHNICA ATOM 3D RIG. The ATOM is a 3d rig designed by Element Technica and Red specifically for the Red Epic. This is the very first video of the ATOM. Also included in the video is the Element Technica Neutron outfitted with the Red 2/3 Interchangeable Scarlets.

The cool thing about the RED/ET Atom rig is that they are integrating a lot of the stuff we currently hang off the rig into the rig itself. Basically a Hi5 and Gen10 are built right into the sharkfins of the rig that will allow you to send a wireless multiplexed signal out to monitors. The goal is to make a cable-less 3D rig.

Very glad however to see ET's new toys are getting out and about playing.

Me too Ketch. I was just there but didn't know about this workshop.

Rig looks great. It should work just as well for Scarlet, right?

Scarlet will work fine on the Atom but ET makes an even smaller 3d rig called the Neutron that will be ideal for the Scarlet. Here is a video I took of the interchangeable Scarlets on the Neutron rig: http://j.mp/gameXm

Another amazing thing about the Atom rig: Joey said the rig you see in the picture weighs 36 pounds. Crazy light.

    For Pulsar:
    Under/Thru:
    18.30lbs./8.30kg.
    Over/Thru: 23.34lbs./10.59kg.

    Impressive ATOM specs to come...
